I love how fiction captures reality and expresses things that are often so ephemeral or hard to put into words.

This captures the essence of why we do trauma work, because the past is infinitely reframable. The meaning we derive from each experience can have a profound impact on how we recover from traumatic experiences.

And this meaning can be shifted and reframed in trauma work.

Every time we take a memory out of long term storage, it is open to change. We can view it from a different perspective, we can bring in new knowledge, we can bring in new ways of relating to ourselves and those in the memory.

This is what makes something like EMDR therapy so incredibly powerful. And how you get trained to use such a powerful tool matters.
