Can’t Wait for the Perfect Time
So often in my work with folks I see how they put things off to the future for some later time. When they feel perfectly prepared, or feel more stable, or more motivated or more knowledgeable.
And then this goal keeps getting pushed out so that they never take the first step. So often the perfect time is now.
Attachment trauma and growing up in a dysfunctional family can certainly impact this way of thinking, but that does not mean that it needs to stay this way. It can be difficult to tease out the threads of what is a normal need to be prepared, versus what is being driven by childhood trauma or current anxiety and depression. That’s when having a good therapist on your side can be so crucial.
The perfect time for therapy is when you are feeling stuck.
