  • A day in the life of Sadie the therapy dog

Sometimes being a therapy dog is not about therapy directly.

Sometimes it is offering her comforting presence as I sit through a conference. Last weekend and this weekend Sadie has been by my side for the annual EMDRIA conference for EMDR therapists.

This year I am attending sessions on EMDR and dissociation, Healing Racial Trauma with Somatic EMDR therapy, Racial Trauma in High Achievers, EMDR therapy for Complex Trauma, EMDR therapy for wounded parents of wounded children, LGBTQIA+ EMDR therapy experiences and Clinical Racial Relevance within EMDR, and more.

I am looking forward to integrating what I have learned this year into my practice. Being able to learn and have Sadie by my side as I do so is a different kind of therapy for which I am incredibly grateful!
