  • Asexual Awareness Week

October 23-29 is Asexuality Awareness Week, also known as Ace Week

It’s an international campaign to awareness/visibility, educate & build community about the range of Ace experiences

Asexuality is a sexual orientation where a person experiences little to no sexual attraction and/or does not experience desire for sexual contact

Asexuality is just as fluid of a spectrum as other orientations

Like any other sexual orientation, asexuality isn’t a choice

Unlike abstinence & celibacy, which are both choices to avoid sex, asexuality is an innate part of who someone is

Asexual people have the same emotional needs as everybody else & are just as capable of forming intimate relationships

Aromantic is defined as not having an interest in or desire for a romantic relationship, as not having romantic attractions

Demi-sexuals do not experience sexual attraction to someone unless they have formed a close emotional or romantic

    bond with that person

Gray-asexuals may experience rare sexual attraction, or may experience sexual attraction but not strongly enough to act on them Asexuality is often stigmatized & looked over as an identity, making people who are asexual feel marginalized by both mainstream culture and the LGBT community
