    Dissociation is about disconnection and fragmentation, or lack of continuity and coherence.

    When we talk about dissociation we may be talking about the experience of dissociation, which varies from normative to more dysfunctional level of experience.

    When we talk about dissociation we may be talking about the experience of dissociation, which varies from normative to more dysfunctional level of experience.

    This subjective experience of dissociation is different from official dissociative disorders such as Dissociative Identity Disorder, and Derealization/Depersonalization Disorders.

    In coming posts I am going to discuss our current theories on what leads to problematic dissociation, discuss each of the different dissociative disorders, talk about parts and parts work, dispel myths around DID, and finally discuss triggers and coping strategies for dealing with dissociation.
