EMDR Basic Training

I spent time this weekend with the other awesome women of Precision EMDR Academy as we gear up for our EMDR Basic Training this fall.

This is an amazing group of humans and fellow therapists who are committed to training others in EMDR therapy for the complex and complicated individuals that actually walk into our office. Working with complex PTSD and attachment trauma are woven into the fabric of what is taught and how it is taught.

So often trainings on treating trauma focus on the simpler, and easier cases of trauma to simplify the learning process, but that leaves most clinicians wondering how to apply this simplified approach to their complex clients. This in turn often leads to therapists getting out of EMDR Basic training and then not using what they have learned.

We want to prevent this by giving you a different, slowed down approach with the goal of helping you to fully learn and integrate what you are learning into your practice.

To that end, here are some of the unique aspects of training with Precision EMDR Academy:

• Mentor approach with smaller ratio of student to staff
• Training is 1 day at a time to facilitate actual learning
• Curriculum/scheduling is shaped to actively support integration into clinical practice (many complete EMDR training & never use it due to fear or confusion)
• Use of real life clinical video examples of complex clients like those clinicians actually treat
• Focus on complex PTSD & attachment trauma
