  • Marsha Linehan Quote

Marsha Linehan developed the gold standard of care for people diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), which is known as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).

BPD is a greatly misunderstood and stigmatized mental illness that typically develops out of attachment trauma.

Linehan eventually came out as having suffered from BPD herself, and felt “There is a tremendous need to implode the myths of mentall illness, to put a face on it, to show people that a diagnosis does not have to lead to a painful and oblique life…We who struggle with these disorders can lead full, happy, productive lives, if we have the right resources.”

Health, healing and fulfilling lives are totally possible for people who struggle with mental health issues.

The more resources and supports that they have, the more likely healing is. These resources and supports may be internal (like resilience) or external (like family or community or therapy or medications).

The healthier the living situation, the employment situation, the community situations are, the easier healing and health will be to achieve.
