“A riot is the language of the unheard.”

In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. I wanted to share this quote. It was last year around this time that there was a growing (if belated) popular awareness of the systemic racism and power dynamics faced by black and brown people in this country.

Those of us in the majority began to listen to the language of the unheard and we cannot allow this knowledge and awareness continue to subside.

BIPOC folks certainly can’t forget or decide it takes too much effort.

So here is a reminder that growing fatigued of talking about racism and systemic injustice is a privilege.

May this MLK Day serve as a reminder and an opportunity to recommit to making substantive changes in our lives, not just in our social media.
