• Trauma work

    There is a common misconception about trauma therapy that all we do or all we focus on is the bad thing(s) that happened. But trauma work includes working on the things that resulted from the trauma, such as your lack of trust in yourself, being disconnected from your body, having dysfunctional patterns in your relationship, your unhealth coping strategies, etc.

    Sometimes my client will apologize for focusing on these daily life issues instead of their trauma, and what I want you to know is that this often is the trauma work that we need to do. Because whatever happened or didn’t happen to you, it left a mark and changed your relationship to yourself, others and the world.
