  • Healing

Healing doesn’t mean the damage never existed. It means the damage no longer controls our lives.

I think there is often an unconscious and unspoken hope when people come into therapy that they can get back to the way it was BEFORE.

But that is simply not possible, because the damage has been done. You have experienced something bad, or harmful, or difficult and that will always be true.

It would be a denial of reality and your lived experience to go back to the way it was before.

You can get back to feeling stronger, healthier, and more normal. AND that will come with new knowledge, understanding, strength or perspective from what you have gone through.

Whatever it was that you went through will no longer control you or your life.

With EMDR therapy, I help clients to let go of the pain of their past, by helping them change the way their brain stores the memory of what happened and we transform the negative conclusions they drew from their experience into beliefs that are more realistic, balanced and adaptive.
