Holding Space
To hold space for someone is powerful. So often when we are struggling with something we just need to be able to say what we need to say and feel what we need to feel.
To do so in the presence of another caring human is powerful and in and of itself can be healing.
Too often others want to go into problem solving mode, or share their struggles or judge what you said or did. None of that is holding space.
This is why therapy is so unique and powerful, we have training in holding space even when we call it something else.
