Quote by Margaret Cho
Learning to see and own our own beauty can be difficult. It is hard in our society that puts out so much garbage about who you are supposed to be. Learning how to unpack the messages society gives us about what it means to be a man or a woman takes work.
Even the notion that we must fall into one of these categories or the other is a message from society that we need to start learning to question and unpack for ourselves. Complicating things more is if we grew up in an situation in which you were invalidated or felt erased.
Just because others cannot see your beauty does not mean it ceases to exist. It is up to each of us to learn to see the beauty in ourselves. In my experience this is a lifelong journey, one we all struggle with to some degree. You are beautiful.
