    Quote by Dag Hammarskjold

Other than in situations of danger or personal safety, denying your own experience for the sake of peace and quiet is not usually healthy.

Because when you deny your own experience or convictions you are left feeling disquieted.

Why do we prioritize the peace and quiet of others over our own so often?

Many times this can be a trauma response, a response to growing up in an unhealthy or abusive family.

We need to build our ability to tolerate discomfort. Especially those of us who are White, we tend to get socialized to prioritize peace and quiet over real talk, and that contributes to a lot dysfunction.
