    Quote by Dr Colette Lord

Be curious. It is a good motto to live by. It helps keep us from jumping to conclusions, it keeps us more open hearted to others rather than assuming we know what is in another’s’ heart.

In my work with my dissociative clients this is a mantra and an attitude I wish to cultivate. Be curious about why this part feels this way or is doing this thing.

When working with trauma more broadly it is good to stay curious. Curious about why are you feeling triggered now? What came up? What meaning or narrative are you attaching to what just came up?

In relationships, it is good to be curious about both yourself and your partner. Why might your partner have said or done that? Are there other explanations that you can think of? What did this bring up for you? If you are feeling triggered, does these feelings seem familiar?

Cultivate your curiosity, it will serve you well.
