I love the idea of growth as an endless river, something you can get swept up in. We think of getting swept away as a bad thing, and we talk about downward spirals, but we rarely talk about the upward spiral. In some ways this is very in line with what Maslow’s idea of self-actualization.

Each step that you take towards understanding yourself and your purpose builds on the last, and sometimes it builds up a synergistic energy that sweeps you upward and onward.

Sometimes what I see in my practice is people working so hard to know who they are and then be able to communicate what they want to others. Once they are first able to do that for themselves, it seems to open the floodgates and they do it more and more, often with less and less effort.
