Progress is important. There is a saying in the addiction world, progress not perfection. I know very few people that can fly, but so often this is the expectation people have for themselves. Then when that isn’t possible, they beat themselves us, often assuming they cannot do it.

Often in therapy it is back to basics, teaching people to crawl, emotionally speaking. Crawling towards health and healing, until they can walk, and then before they realize it, they are running.

The same thing can be said about social change. Every step forward, no matter how small deserves celebration. It is important that we do not stop trying to help society progress and evolve. LGBTQIA rights are human rights, let’s fight for them.
