Falling apart is difficult and messy and generally not seen as a positive thing. That being said, it does not have to be.

Sometimes we have to fall apart to get put back together differently.

Just alcoholics sometimes need to hit rock bottom before they get into recovery or stop drinking.

Just like it sometimes takes a mental break down before someone is able to admit that what they are doing is not healthy or wake themselves up to realizing that something is wrong in the first place.

Just like it sometimes takes a crisis in the marriage to make a person finally realize they have a different sexual orientation or gender identity.

The process of breaking down and falling apart is painful, but once that happens you get to decide how you want to rebuilt yourself and put the pieces back together. And you might find a truer, more authentic version of you is able to emerge. And that is a beautiful thing indeed.
