Words have power, and being able to speak your truth and tell your story has profound healing potential.

In many ways therapy is about giving words to wordless experiences. It is giving others a language to use to describe their experience.

By putting things into words, we are often helping to bind and contain the experience. It helps move traumatic experiences from the right brain where they are stored as sensations and emotions in surround sound as it happened at the time, over into the left brain that is about language, logic, and organizing stories to where they have a beginning, a middle and an end.

Just talking about what has happened can be profoundly transformative. And when words are not enough, EMDR therapy can help bring what you know in your head, to what you feel in your heart and your body.
