  • Self-Care 101: eating

This might seem rather elemental, but making sure that you eat on a regular basis is fundamental to good self-care. When you are hungry you more vulnerable to emotional overwhelm as you don’t have the mental energy to cope. So be good to your body, give it healthy foods in a regular and timely manner. Also notice how your mind and body respond to different foods. If certain foods affect you negatively, then eliminate them. It is also a good idea to keep healthy snacks on hand for when they are needed. If you are someone who tends to get wrapped up in a work project or a good book or video game and forget to eat, then set a timer to remind yourself or ask someone you live with to give you a reminder. Whatever you need to do to get your eating habits on track, even if it seems silly or really basic, what matters is that you take good care of yourself!
